Weekly Spark -- Halloween Horrors

Thank you to all of you who worked hard on your submissions and participating in this site. We really appreciate it~!

The Weekly Spark was... "Your Worst Halloween Nightmare!"

Savannah Brookshire

My worst Halloween nightmare was frightening because it all had do with “ZOMBIES,” oh my! It all started on one morning. I was calling my three best friends Kawnia, Zoila, and Elaine. “Hi Kawnia, Elaine, and Zoila. Are you guys ready for trick – or – treating tonight,” I asked them?
“Oh yeah, definitely ready,” Kawnia answered with excitement in her voice.
“Same here,” Zoila answered after Kawnia.
“Yep,” Elaine answered after Zoila.
“Okay good then meet me at my house in an hour so we can talk,” I said to them. An hour has passed, and I’m just going to skip the talking part and go ahead to the trick – or – treating. Once we were out trick – or – treating, a couple of hours passed. Once we got to the next house, all we felt was quietness and when we turned around there was just chaos people running down the street.
“What the heck was that all about and should we be worried about that and why is this house all dark and spooky,” Elaine worried.
“Well one, its Halloween and two does it look like I know what that was about Elaine,” Kawnia shouted!
“Hey, I was asking aloud not just you so just calm yourself down,” Elaine said back to her.
“Will you two just nock the heck off or else I’ll do it for you,” Zoila said.
“You guys, what is that,” Kawnia asked in a scared voice?
Once we saw what Kawnia was pointing out, all of a sudden it lunged at us in zombie like motion and we all screamed and ran for our lives. We all ran into this other dark, spooky house.
“Was that what I think it was,” I questioned the three?
“Yep,” Zoila answered.
“Ahhh, zombie,” We all screamed! And then all of the sudden a whole bunch of zombies were just breaking the windows and were trying to break the door down and somehow they all got in and ate us.

The sky was black and the night was silent except for the sound of an owl in the distance. I thought it seemed way too cliche but all my friends were scared. We decided to walk to the end of 9th street. Nobody trick or treats on 9th street. Apparently about 50 years ago, a man set this whole street on fire on halloween night. Only one house still stands. Its all the way at the end of the block, and its supposed to be haunted. As we approached the house, a black cat burst out of the darkness and ran the opposite direction that we were walking. My friends double dog dared me to ring the doorbell. I had no choice, it was a double dog dare. I slowly walked up the doorsteps and placed both my feet in front of the door. I slowly raised my hand to the doorbell and, without thinking, pressed it. The entire street burst up in flames, trapping us against the haunted house.

My worst Halloween nightmare consists of some thing like me being woken up up at 12:00am being tortured for for 24 hours, while my I watch my friends and family be killed and  my stuff being ruined. Thats probably never going to happen. A more realistic worst nightmare is me finding nothing to do on halloween. It would be super boring and would be a huge disappointment. I would be super sad/ angry that i let such a fun day go to waist. Hopefully that doesnt happen tonight and I find something awesome to do with my friends.

Far to the South, upon the Pinnacle of PV, comes the legend of the skinner. It begins way back before the civil war, when black slaves were held by there white owners. Cornelius, a black man who had earned his freedom, became a skinner by trade. He was very good at his work and made a decent living, sometimes even better than his white neighbors. Envious that a black man could fare better than themselves, the town rounded him up and murdered him along with his family. It has been said, that after the death of Cornelius, the townsfolk skinned his corpse and threw it into the sea. But Cornelius did not die, instead he became something more. A soggy corpse desperate to harvest the skin of any man he can find. Especially those who have heard his story.

"Us"

Run to me
Hide from me
Take what you want from me
I don't need
You will see
Everything I can be.
Wipe the rain
Erase the pain
Help save me from the fray
Show they way
The light of day
Stay together come what may.
Take me there
I don’t care
Let them come
Let them stare.
'Cuz I love you
And I want you
And I need you
Take my hand
You’ll see it’s true.

My Worst Halloween Nightmare

It’s Halloween night and I’m home alone passing out candy. I’ve been passing out candy for quite a while now, probably has been a couple of hours. It’s gotten pretty late and fewer people come to my door the later and darker it gets. Things start to quiet down for the last hour, so I start to wrap things up and grab my things and go back inside. An hour passes, I’ve showered and gotten into my PJ’s starting to get ready to relax and watch a movie. I turn Friday the 13th on and I’m at the part where it’s silent and you don’t know what’s gonna happen next. All the sudden somebody knocks on my door. I screamed because I expected it to come from the movie, but it was real. All I could see was the outline of a dark creepy shadow through the curtains, I was extremely scared to open it so I acted like I wasn’t home. The knocking started up again after a few minutes. Again, I didn’t answer. A few seconds after the knocking stopped, he left. I was extremely relieved that he was gone and nothing happened. 30 minutes later, I hear three big bangs on the front door now. It’s the same shadow. This time the banging doesn’t stop. I screamed from inside and shouted “I’m not passing candy out anymore! I’m sorry, it’s a bit late!!” The banging stopped. I went to bed and locked all of the windows and doors to make sure I was safe. It’s about 3 A.M and I was sound asleep, and then I heard a door open. I sat up in bed and listened very carefully. Footsteps start, very slowly and light at first. Then they start to make their way up to the stairs and their steps are getting louder, sturdier and closer. Before he could make it up the stairs, I quietly left my room and hid in the heater closet. He makes it up the stairs, I hear him open my door. He grunts and is stomping all over the place. I start to cry and breathe heavily, scared that he will hear, so I cover my mouth, but it’s not much help. He stops in the hallway, in front of my bedroom. He walks slowly and I hear a knife scraping against the wall, he stops again in the hallway now. I can tell he’s right in front of me, I start to breathe too loud. He opens the door and he’s wearing a bull mask with horns. I start to cringe and cry, he takes the mask off. “Callais, find a better hiding spot next time,” my dad said laughing hysterically.

Creepy Little Critters

Happens when you least expect it
Always when you’re alone
Little do you know, they watch your every move
Like a hawk watches his prey
Oh how it will scare you so much, you
Will cry and scream
Exhaling so heavily, you could blow yourself away
Even if everybody else tells you its okay, you
Never know how big a spider’s mouth can open to eat you alive!
